Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare: deadly emotes.

Emotes: a term synonymous with laughing out loud, oh my god, and little yellow circular faces - basically all of the things that are annoying about text messages. The software developers' answer to the decades old question "how the heck can I convey emotion through text?" which was inevitably followed up by the question "how the heck can I make someone stop doing it?" Sometimes they're useful, other times funny, but usually annoying. Nevertheless emotes are here to stay it would seem (for anyone still trying to convince himself they're just a passing fad) and have now thoroughly infiltrated multiplayer gaming.

Instead of just getting owned (not to be confused with pwned - the bastard child term started by impatient messengers who passed off a grammatical error as a trend) by an annoying 12 year old who spends literally all day memorizing every inch of every map on a particular game whilst screeching into the headset with his prepubescent voice that he's technically 13, now I get to watch him dance atop my corpse in 3D. Hurrah for social advancements. It's not all bad though. I return the favor + 2 or 3 extra ones just for good measure and on occasion my emotes convey such as powerful emotion that other players up and die upon seeing it. Either that or my dancing really, really sucks... No, not possible. It's just really, really powerful. Yeah, I'm going with that.

So there you have it. I danced. People died. The truth is that I coincidentally captured other players spawning out of the match (most likely to select different characters) just as I performed my emote. Sounds better if I just blame their spontaneous death on my potent undead magnetism though.

PvZGW is a really fun multiplayer game, I'll give it that. But for God's sake stop using the laugh emote every single time you score a kill, or you will feel my wrath for the remainder of the game. You know who you are... ;o)
