About Jay

I grew up like many children in my day, sword fighting pirates and saving damsels in distress from cranky overgrown turtles in tandem with learning to read. Upon entering high-school, I had broadened my skill-sets to include surviving zombie apocalypses and drifting through the streets of London at high speeds. Video and PC games have been a major part of my life since early childhood, providing solace to me during my surgeries/recoveries and proliferating my fascination with electronics (not to mention I got to skip school for weeks at a time and game it up on the couch).

I started working on PCs when I was 12 years old, my first "patient" being a used Intel 286 running Windows 3.1 (you know, back when desktop computers actually took up most of your desk's top). I've been working on PCs, laptops, handhelds, and just about any other type of electronic device I can get my hands on through word-of-mouth ever since. Trust me when I say that it has been an unforgettable ride. I remember when installing a 50MB (that's megabyte, not gigabyte) hard drive into a drive bay was like trying to bolt a brick to the inside of a metal shoe box. Ah, good times.

In June of 2011 I graduated from the University of Phoenix with a BS in Software Engineering. Gained loads of programming know-how and loads of student debt for my effort. :o)

On the personal side, I'm a 33 year old above-knee (a/k) amputee, am married to a wonderful woman, and have three amazing children. Having been privileged enough to live in Washington State, Oregon, Georgia, and South Carolina throughout my life, and to visit a plethora of amazing sights and locales between them, I consider myself blessed to call the USA my family's home.
